Those of us that live here know that Villebois loves to party. The 2013 Villebois Christmas celebration was no exception! Put together and planned in coordination with the Villebois Events Committee, this year’s holiday shin dig was different than in past years.
Historically, the neighborhood has come together for hot cocoa, caroling, and lighting of the pavilion at Sofia Park. This year marked the first that Villebois lit a tree! But the real highlight of this year’s gathering was the MUSIC! Event organizers invited three local school choirs to perform for the Villebois neighborhood. A stage was constructed in Palermo Park, and choirs from Boones Ferry Primary, Wood Middle School, and SOUL’d Out from Wilsonville High School all performed a collection of Christmas music for Villebois. Heaters were provided by Wood Pellet Products to battle the chill. Hot chocolate was served to keep the kiddos warm, and a lovely time was enjoyed by all.
What would a Christmas celebration be without a visit from Santa? In true Villebois form, Santa arrived on a fire truck, sirens blowing and lights blazing!
As the children gathered around the fire truck, out came Santa (a member of our very own Villebois Events Committee!) and led the crowd from the park over to the warmth of the Villebois Community Center where volunteers had snacks and crafts awaiting for the kids while they waited their turn for a seat on Santa’s lap. Villebois resident and photographer, Von Burke, took photos of every last child with Santa. The pictures can be found here on Von Burke’s website.
What a wonderful way to kick off the 2013 Christmas Season! A Villebois Christmas created wonderful memories for the neighborhood. Just one more reason we love living in Villebois!
